(More customer reviews)The detail in this product is not bad. The point of the product is for offshore navaids. It is of limited detail for inland regions. Other MapSource software are better for that. The trip and waypoint management functions are great. It is fun to transfer your tracks to the PC to see where you have been. If you are considering buying this, be sure to check out Garmin's online MapSource Map Viewer on the cartography page of their website. It shows the detail in the product. It can help you determine if the software is right for you. I would recommend their GPSMAP 76 unit without hesitation. It is great GPS unit!

Navigate all major U.S. coastline and inland waterway areas with thisGarmin U.S. Waterways and Lights CD-ROM. To use this CD-ROM, simply load thedisc into your PC's CD-ROM, then transfer maps from the PC to your compatibleglobal positioning system unit. The trip and waypoint management functions ofthis product work with nearly all Garmin GPS units, except the GPS100 family andpanel-mount aviation units. The map-download feature of this product isrecommended for use with the GPS III Plus, NavTalk, GPS 12MAP, and GPSMAP162/168. Use a blank 8 MB or 16 MB data cartridge to upload map data to theStreetPilot GPS, StreetPilot ColorMap, GPSMAP 295, and eMap models.
Nautical navigation aids displayed include coastline detail with thousands ofsmall islands, plus wrecks, obstructions, and other hazards (no depth contours).Also displayed are lights, buoys, sound signals, and day beacons; U.S. inlandshoreline detail for lakes, reservoirs, waterways and rivers; and iconsindicating boat ramps, dams, facilities, and danger areas. This disc includes adetailed U.S. map with cities, towns, highways, major local roads, andinterstates.
This product also offers GPS 48 support, which allows you to transfer nauticalnavigational aids from a worldwide database. When you install the GPS 48support, there will be a selection to upload a particular lights region, whichinclude North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the SouthPacific.
