I have a mini-van and mounting the GPS on the windshield puts it in the sun and makes it hard to reach for operation or installation and removal. This takes care of that quite neatly. It is solidly built and the flexible arm and adjustable ball mount give you the ability to position the unit wherever you need it. The cup mount has a tightening wheel to lock the mount in the cup holder too. Finally, the part that actually attaches to the GPS is modular. You can get other mounts for other brands of GPS, so you're covered if you own more than one brand or upgrade in the future. All you'll need to buy is the end piece.
