FRD03-AUX/S PIE Auxiliary Input Converter Review

FRD03-AUX/S PIE Auxiliary Input Converter

I wanted to be able to play my Zune HD inside my car. I did some research and found that replacing my head unit would be a pain. Instead, I found I could use this product to do the job. I read online and found that this product (FRD03-AUX/S) was supported by my stock, SAT ready, Mach 460 system (the product description also confirms this).
The install was straight forward. It took 30 minutes including time to look up how to get to the head unit. Be sure to completely plug the 24-Pin and 16-Pin connectors into the head unit or you could have an issue with the head unit not playing.
The sound quality is pretty good. Unlike with most AUX inputs I've used, I was forced to drop the volume on my Zune in order to get better quality on the head unit. This could be a problem with my sound system and not with the product itself, however. Be sure to experiment with it a little to get the best sound quality possible.
Overall, I'm pleased with this product. It is a bit pricey (ordered for $65) but it does the job very well. I would recommend this product to a friend and would buy it again.

Garmin Replacment Band Black For Forerunner 405 Review

Garmin Replacment Band Black For Forerunner 405

This is a direct replacement for the factory band for Garmen 405. These other reviews seem to make this out to be some difficult task replacing the watch band, and while it's not the easiest watch band I've ever replaced, I would not consider it difficult.
The tool included is quite handy for removing the old band, which is even easier if yours is broken and shorter.
Take off the old band, and using an old toothbrush and soft soap and water, gently clean all the old sweat and gunk out of there. Then dry with a soft towel.
Then slip in the new band pins
hook one side of the new band on, and from the outside, using the tool included in the package, compress the pin, and slip the other side of the band into place.
Then check the inside with the tool and make sure it's secure.
Repeat on the other half of the new band.
I won't say how long this "should" take you, because everyone is different when it comes to these things. Good luck!

PIE FRD04-AUX - Car audio switcher Review

PIE FRD04-AUX - Car audio switcher

I purchased this unit so I could have a direct line from my iPod into the factory radio on my 2006 Ford Focus. After a self-install, the unit has worked as described for several months now, with no issues. Because the audio is coming directly from the micro stereo (headphone) jack on my iPod, the audio quality is excellent; far better than the $100 FM transmitter I was using previously.
Also, because the device simply takes input from RCA audio ports, the device allows you to connect any device, such as a portable DVD player or laptop computer. An adapter may be required, as was the case with my iPod, but a RCA to micro stereo adapter can be had for $5 to $10.
It's important to note that if you do not choose to have this professionally installed, you will need to have basic wiring skills and tools. For anyone interested, I've posted instructions on how I installed this device in my vehicle, as well as a list of parts that I used, on my blog. These instructions can be adapted to other Ford / Lincoln / Mercury vehicles with the same factory radio:

Installing a FRD04-AUX Adapter for Ford CAN-BUS Factory Radios
Although the device works excellent once installed, I've subtracted 1 star as you need to purchase about $15 of additional components to wire the device into your vehicle's fuse panel. Again, the instructions on my blog will provide more details.
