I bought this to connect to the VZ709 head unit. They don't make it obvious, but you need another $100 adapter to make this connect, even thought they say the NP509 and VZ709 are compatible. First of all, I think it's ridiculous that you need a $100 "adaptor" to make a Clarion navigation system connect to a Clarion head unit that is "navigation ready". I bought the vehicle with the head unit already installed, but I can tell you for sure, I will never buy Clarion again. Everything is connected 100% properly, triple-checked. The navigation works fine, except that the display is in black and white (or white and black when in night mode). Doesn't make a difference if I reset the nav unit or the head unit, still won't display in color. No troubleshooting tips available anywhere on Clarion site, or in the entire internet that I can find.
Very disappointed with Clarion, and recommend everyone to avoid their products and buy something that works and doesn't require adaptors to adapt adaptors to the adaptors. Clarion = very poor engineering!!!!
