(More customer reviews)I just installed this in my 2005 Tacoma. Installed nicely, although I did have a problem getting the plastic filler from the Scosche dash kit to fit around the deck. I had to cut out some of the plastic with a razor, but it looks nice!
Touch controls are pretty responsive. Very intuitive design GUI. I really didn't need the manual to figure anything out, and this is my first touchscreen system. The EQ settings were a little hard to find. I still don't know how to get to them without using the remote.
Sounds quality is great! This brought life into the stock speakers! I don't even have the upgraded JBL sound, and it sounds really nice. Plenty of power for stock system. The bass nearly sounds like I installed a small sub.
Bluetooth functionality works ok with my phone. In order to pair, I had to initiate from the phone. Not sure if there's a way to search for a device from the Valor. I have a Samsung A920 with Sprint, which isn't on the list that comes with the system, but everything works, except for the phonebook. Well, it will see and import some kind of list, but the names aren't there, just a "-" inplace of the letters. So it will have the right amount of dashes for the letters of a name, but no letters. So caller-id only lists the number, not the name. This is one reason I can't give it 5 stars. The firmware is flashable via cd, so maybe there will be an update for more compatibility for phones. As far as talking on it, it works great. Very clear, and the person at the other end said they can hear me well. It pauses the cd\dvd or fades out the tuner and an alert pops up on the screen of a call. There's an option to transfer the audio back to your phone if the call needs to be private.
DVD playback worked really well. I was surprised how clear the picture looked for such an inexpensive device. Especially since the gui looks kind of grainy. Not so for video playback. Navigation is easy. Tap the right or left side of the screen to go forward or back a chapter. tap the bottom middle for navigation controls. Top right for menus. Very cool. Sound quality for the movie was great, even though I don't have 5.1 surround in my truck, although the Valor can handle that.
Ipod function is nice, but lacks a bit. You can browse by artist, genre, song, album... which is pretty standard for ipod browsing. There's also a number pad that you can bring up to browse directly to an artist (if you know what number they are on your ipod). You can use this to get to the middle of your list, instead of having to scroll through hundreds of artists or songs. Browsing was a little weird because as I was scrolling, I noticed that it would switch over to the track view of the album I was currently listening to, which was a pain because I had to start back at the top of the artist list. The only other problem I found, which I guess isn't really a problem, but a feature I would like, is album artwork. In fact, the whole gui is lacking a little since there doesn't seem to be any way to personalize the screen (background, screensaver, artwork, led colors). I've only had this for a day, so I could be wrong, but at least there wasn't an easy way to do this.. that I found.
I have yet to use the SD reader or SAT function, but I will. Just a quick review for now.

Valor DD-858W In-Dash 2 DIN AM/FM/CD/DVD Fixed Panel Review

(More customer reviews)I drive a 04 Chevy Silverado with Double-Din opening and got the Valor DD-858W which fit perfectly in place. I love the unit--it's the only one I could find that had slots for SD memory cards (2 of them--I use 1 for pictures and 1 for video/pics) and a USB port! Plus, it comes with Bluetooth (though the mic could be better)and a real IPOD connector (so you don't have to use the USB port and can save it for other devices) whereas the other ones I looked at charged for these options. It's a great value for the price and functionality. Oh yeah it plays CD/DVDs too and you can hook up a rear view camera. The overall design is plain and simple and it sounds really good just powering the stock speakers. I like Valor. I never heard of them before and took a chance but I like it and would by it again.

(More customer reviews)Dont be afraid of the name Valor. They make top of the line equipment at a very reasonable price. This unit does it all and has a very friendly interface. Perhaps the biggest selling point is all the accessories it comes with. It comes with an ipod cable, nav dvd, a 2 gb card to download updates, 2 remotes and also a very "mouse" that allows you to change station/songs with a mouse scroll wheel as well as volume. Pretty much everything in the unit you can fully customize. The nav is very accurate and has a lot more points of interest than i ever expected. Sound quality is great with plenty of equalizer options. Bluetooth is a great function- i guess you dont always sound incredibly clear on the other end but no real complaints. If youre in the market for a multimedia system to handle everything you need- look no further. I had looked at pioneers and jensens and the extras you needed to buy were just too much. This is BY FAR the best bang for the buck. Dont hesistate because you want to buy a name brand. Youll end up with a better unit and only spend half the money.

Valor NVG-606W 6.5-Inch Double-DIN Touchscreen Navigation System Review

(More customer reviews)Installation relatively painless. Purchased installation instructions, wiring harness and mounting bracket from other online audio supply dealer. Unit was installed in 2003 Ford Expedition. The installation was performed on a Saturday morning. The only SNAFU experienced was when powering on the system and trying to initialize the GPS a warning message would appear stating something to the effect of 'invalid license key' and then an input screen would pop up for key entry. Nothing in any associatated documentation regarding license key, unlock code, or how to obtain such. An email and then telephone message were left with tech support regarding the issue. Appears there is no support provided on weekends. Monday a friendly tech support returned the call with the unlock code and an email was also received with same unlock code. Once the code was entered the system functioned just fine.
Pros:
The sound is much of an inprovement over the stock CD / tape deck that was purchased with the vehicle. Nice match for the Infinity Kappa speakers I previously installed. The convenience of AUX, USB and SD all in the front panel were a big plus for me (I have not hooked iPod to the read media input, the front AUX is more convenient.)
Cons:
Confusion of the unlock code resulted in my spending a few hours trying to hack the system into working state while waiting for tech support to return calls. GPS only runs from maps in the SD card. This prohibits playing SD based music when navigation is enabled. (Not really a big issue.) The unit will display song titles for USB based songs, but does not for standard CD format music - just Track01, Track09, etc.
