(More customer reviews)Ordered this item based on Magellan website and because it was just what I needed for my Explorer XL GPS - please note picture of item has 3 suction cups, I received an old outdated model that looked like a Martian antenna with a Huge single suction cup. Despite numerous telephone calls to Amazon, they could not get the right product. To date they have sent me 4 items - all incorrect!!! I received promises of actual inventory checking, a review by the catalog dept., and promises by various customer service people to resolve this situation for me, for Amazon, and for other potential buyers. They still have no clue. I received my first item in 01/07 and my fourth in 05/07 and just got my refunds straightened out this week(05/24/07).This is the worst experience I have ever had with a company and I have spent many thousands of dollars with Amazon. I never expect that these events will come to closure.

Magellan eXplorist 200 Water Resistant Hiking GPS Review

(More customer reviews)My 8-year old son read an article about Geocaching and really got excited. I wanted to get a GPS handheld that offered great value and ease-of-use. I tried the Garmin eTrex, eTrex Legend, Geko and the Magellan eXplorist 200 (a local Geocaching club let me field test the units) and I downloaded the manuals from the Garmin/Magellan websites and poured over them.
The verdict -- I bought the eXplorist 200. The base map gives you the major freeways, highways, and cities -- even parks and national landmarks. The buttons and functions were the most intuitive of any of the models tested -- very important when you have children operating the unit. The LCD screen is as big as the expensive models and highly legible in ambient light. My son loves it and the entire family is getting lots of hikes and geocaching done in the great outdoors.
What happens next? I will save up for a more powerful unit with a PC connection, map software, etc, now that we are hooked on GPS navigation. The eXplorist will remain with my son -- like cell phones, it is always a good idea to have an extra one around...

Magellan Meridian External Power Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)This power adapter does the job. It's neat because it can handle a wide range of voltage inputs. It has a small in-line power box that adjusts the input to fit the needs of the Meridian. The problem I had is that I bought it before realizing the power and the computer connection both use the same strange I/O connector. So if you use this adapter, you can't connect to your laptop. The solution is to buy the more expensive dual cable version that has both battery cord and serial cable attached.
