I have a 2007 Honda Fit. This mount would not fit either of the center vents without modification of the mount (yay, Dremel).
The clips require that there be a certain vertical distance between the vent louvers (the ones that go up and down, to which you are clipping the mount). Otherwise, you will wind up bending the louvers and putting the plastic under strain. I had to cut the release mechanisms off each clip so that they would fit through the tiny space between my car's vent louvers.
The center distance between the clips is not far enough apart for my car. My vent has an enormous rectangular direction adjuster (the knob that angles the vent right/left) dead center on the vent. The clips on this mount were not widely spaced enough to go around it. So I have one clip to the left of the direction adjuster and one clip sitting awkwardly on top of it. This made the mount not quite level.
I had to put the mount on and take it off several times, cutting and filing away bits of the clips, so that it would fit. This left me with some scratch damage on my vent. They say "no tools", but that's for the installation. I found it hard to remove the clips without having three hands and two tools. The damage is concealed by the mount for now.
There are NO instructions. At least none came with the one I ordered. That said, this product is still way better than the suction cup mount that came with my GPS.

Com paired to the Tom Tom the graphics are better. Set up is easy to and the arm that extends from the window is easy to see and dosent get in the way. The problem I have with it is when you try to find different stores or places. THis is the only thing that the Tom Tom is better. Not that it was much better though. I tried finding Whole Foods and 24 hr fitness and either does not give me good directions or cant find it. Updating is also a problem. I cannot figure out how to use it. The TOm TOm was much easier and updated automatically. Also you can change the audio alot better wit a wide selections with the TOm TOm..its not that its a bad GPS its just I expected alot more then what I got

Magellan 980637 External Antenna Review

Magellan 980637 External Antenna
Average Reviews:

Used on new Magellan 760. Happy to see that they gave you instructions. Magellan reference manual doesn't show you how to attach. You have to pull off the antenna attached to the Magellan GPS (it snaps on and off) and plug the external antenna in. The magentic base really holds on to the point it is hard to remove, has a rubber ring base but it doesn't completely cover the whole base just the outside edge. Works well you get a better constant signal than using the units supplied antenna but you have to figure out what to do with all the extra wire that you don't use. I gave it a 4 stars due to the pricing. Check out aftermarket antenna's before buying one.

Magellan RoadMate 6000T 980874-01 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan RoadMate 6000T 980874-01 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had the Magellan 6000T now for 2 months and I can't imagine traveling without it. I have traveled for 19 years and made more U-turns than I can shake a stick at.
This system has it all... Blue tooth, spoken street names, easy to navigate touch screen, extremely bright screen (automatically darkens at dusk).
This system gives you more heads up about upcoming turns than any other system on the market. For instance, it will let you of a turn two miles ahead, then one mile, then 0.5 mile. Then it has a 0.2 mile yellow bar graph that shrinks as you come to your turn.
I am very glad I got this system with the spoken street names. It gives you that much more information while you are in unfamiliar territory. The street name voice is a different voice from the turn by turn voice. The street name voice has more of an edge which helps you listen easier to the street name.
It has locked up about 4 times (what high tech electronic gadget never locks up) but it was easy to reboot the system.
One of the best features is the traffic alert. I was in Charlotte, NC which I was unfamiliar with driving during rush hour to the other side of town for a meeting. After I left the hotel, it was directing me turn by turn to the Interstate. While sitting at a red light, I happened to notice it flash "I-85 accident" and then it recalculated the route. I couldn't believe it when I got to the interstate, it had brought me to the entrance ramp just ahead of where all three lanes were blocked because of the wreck!!!!! I was very impressed!
It also gives you four options for choosing your route which is twice as many as any other system.
I did a lot of research looking at the Garmin systems and Tom Tom. I printed out at least half a ream of paper of specifications and customer comments. The more I looked at Magellan, the more I realized it was the best value. I'm sure Garmins are good and they will work, but the Magellan 6000T matched their highest priced Nuvi systems feature for feature and was significantly cheaper.
It is easily portable and easily attaches and detaches to the mount. In the rental cars, I can easily mount it on the windshield. I have never had a problem with the suction mount.
On my Chrysler 300 company car, I use the flat disk and mount the system on the dashboard with no problems.
I do not regret my purchase at all.
If you travel, you need to seriously look at getting a portable GPS system. I would strongly recommend the Magellan 6000T.
It will be analogous to life before and after a microwave.

Multilingual options make the 6000T perfect for speakers of English, French, and Spanish.

Garmin StreetPilot i2 2.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Garmin StreetPilot i2 2.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had a Garmin iQue 3600 for over 3 years. I recently bought the i2 for my wife. We just used it in Phoenix for a few days and I must say I'm considering getting the i2 for myself. The suction cup works well and it is very compact and connects to the DC power via the mini-USB port. It makes for a very compact traveling companion.
At first, I felt that the hard button controls and no touch screen would make the interface difficult to use. To be honest, it works better in most cases! The thumb wheel/button works great and the back button is intuitive like a browser. It picks up the sats fast and gets great reception. The B&W screen is easier to see in sunlight and is pretty sharp and surprising usable for the small size. The voice is loud (and adjustable) and we had little or no issues. I like the 3D mode but you can switch to 2D if you like that better.
I agree with other reviewers about one way streets and occasional longer than needed routes. Also, U turns are a fact of life in Phoenix and it usually doesn't factor in U turns as a possibility so it takes you down and around instead. However, adjustments can be made in the settings to look for or avoid highways and not to ignore U turns, so look there.
I find that mounting my iQue is a pain so I use an external antenna and a sand bag mount. Having to haul all that on trips was a pain. I'll take the i2 from now on as it is all in one and very packable. I can see how there would be issues on windshield placement so think about that before you buy. I had no trouble on 2 different rental cars. Make sure you press solidly in middle of back before flipping lever and it wont go anywhere.
All in all, when you factor in the small size, nice usability and the price, this one is definitely top of the list! If you want a unit you will likely use in your own car all the time, I would suggest the iQue in a hard mount or the C300 series. These have touch screens and allow you to slide scroll and such. But they are twice the money!

No larger than a baseball and priced with affordability in mind, the StreetPilot i2 GPS navigation system is a great fit for commuters, college students, and corporate travelers looking to experience the ease and enjoyment of satellite navigation for the first time. Don't let the small size fool you; the i2 boasts many of the same powerful functions as Garmin's premium vehicle GPS navigators.
The StreetPilot i2 features a unique and convenient click-to-enter scroll wheel and a back button that makes it easy to select a destination from the unit's menu-driven interface. It also offers voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions through a built-in speaker, and should you miss a turn, the i2 will automatically recalculate the route to put you back on course. And perhaps most conveniently, the unit moves easily from vehicle to vehicle thanks to the integrated suction cup mount, so you don't need to go through a cumbersome process each time you change cars.
To get you from point A to point B, the StreetPilot i2 includes a MapSource City Select North America NT DVD, which contains mapping detail of the entire U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. The DVD's nearly six million points of interest range from hotels and restaurants to gas stations and ATMs, along with local attractions such as amusement parks and museums. Simply load the City Select data onto the included 128 MB Transflash data card via a fast USB connection and you're set.
As an added benefit, you can now import customized points of interest with the help of Garmin's free POI Loader software. For instance, you can upload safety cameras or school zones, and then receive a warning if you are traveling too fast in these areas. In addition, an optional proximity-alert feature notifies you of upcoming custom POIs.
Maps are displayed on the i2's high-contrast backlit FSTN monochrome display, which includes a backlight for difficult lighting conditions. Motorists even have the choice of multiple perspectives--either a 3-D mapping angle or an overhead bird's-eye view. For added convenience, drivers can power the unit with either two AA batteries (six hours, typical use) or the included 12-volt adapter cable.
The StreetPilot i2 measures 3 x 2.74 x 2.15 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box StreetPilot i2, America's Lite Routable base map, City Select North America DVD, PC/USB cable, 12-volt adapter cable, vehicle suction-cup mount, dashboard adhesive disk, 128 MB Transflash data card, setup guide, user's manual.

Magellan Maestro 4000 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan Maestro 4000 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

First the good stuff. The GPS accuracy exceeds my expectations, it is usually accurate to within about 10 feet. The "directions" have been flawless so far. The voice prompts are clear and easy to understand. The screen is very large and easy to read. The menus are are breeze to use, and there is no "learning curve".
Now the bad stuff. There is no way for me to look up POIs on my computer, and download them; which is stupid since the unit has a USB interface. The POIs on the GPS are all "AAA" rated places, so you are limited to the places that "AAA" wants you to go to. I looked up restaraunts in my area, for which there are at least 20 "chain restaraunts" like chili's & applebees etc; however, it only listed one obscure restaurant in my area. The next closest place it listed was nearly 10 miles away!!! In my opinion the pre-loaded POIs are absolutely useless. And with no way to download them from my PC, I am forced to look up the address via internet and then MANUALLY enter them into the GPS (this seems like stone-age technology to me).

Magellan eXplorist 200 Water Resistant Hiking GPS Review

Magellan eXplorist 200 Water Resistant Hiking GPS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 8-year old son read an article about Geocaching and really got excited. I wanted to get a GPS handheld that offered great value and ease-of-use. I tried the Garmin eTrex, eTrex Legend, Geko and the Magellan eXplorist 200 (a local Geocaching club let me field test the units) and I downloaded the manuals from the Garmin/Magellan websites and poured over them.
The verdict -- I bought the eXplorist 200. The base map gives you the major freeways, highways, and cities -- even parks and national landmarks. The buttons and functions were the most intuitive of any of the models tested -- very important when you have children operating the unit. The LCD screen is as big as the expensive models and highly legible in ambient light. My son loves it and the entire family is getting lots of hikes and geocaching done in the great outdoors.
What happens next? I will save up for a more powerful unit with a PC connection, map software, etc, now that we are hooked on GPS navigation. The eXplorist will remain with my son -- like cell phones, it is always a good idea to have an extra one around...

Among its many features, the eXplorist 200 offers three navigation screens with track plotting to help you find the fun--and then find your way back. Magellan Maestro 4000 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished) Review

Magellan Maestro 4000 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We chose this to use both in our older vehicle as well as portable use. It is large enough for easy viewing, but still fits easily in a jacket pocket.
Very surprised to find it works perfectly even when resting on the center console, beneath the dashboard. It regularly tracks ten satellites while buried down there. The supplied mounting bracket attaches firmly and quickly to the windshield, and can be positioned for easy use by both the driver and the front seat passenger/navigator.
We've been using the ($2K) factory installed GPS in one car for eight years, and find this inexpensive unit does most functions as well or even better. Unlike the factory unit, this one takes the direct route to our house, instead of a mile longer route on arterial streets. It also shows current speed with very high accuracy, even while walking with it in your pocket. Precise latitude and longitude are just one click away.
The factory installed unit requires manual time setting and adjusting for Daylight Saving Time. This one reset itself when DST ended. Unlike the factory unit, it does not take you to a destination by simply entering a phone number.
We updated the CD database once in the factory installed unit; that cost nearly twice what we paid for this Magellan. Update chips cost nearly as much as this unit, so if/when we ever find that necessary we could just replace it with one with the latest chip.
Overall, very pleased and have already pointed friends and family toward this unit.

RAM Mounting Systems RAP-B-191AU Mirror Mate Mount - Ford, Chrysler, Toyota Review

RAM Mounting Systems RAP-B-191AU Mirror Mate Mount - Ford, Chrysler, Toyota
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am going to start this review by saying, I love RAM mounts.. after getting this, and seeing the quality of the actual parts, I bought many more mounts and extensions. Some from amazon and some directly from RAM that amazon didnt carry. Everything in my car is going to be RAM mounted.. tomtom goLive 740, myTouch 3G slide, and a Sony vaio ux90 UMPC.
Now, the main reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 5 is.. my mirror now shakes like mad just driving down the street. So bad that I cant barely see what is going on at night because its just a bunch of big blurry light streaks. I have been looking at things and it appears that it is the mount part that you mount your mirror to, not the part where the mount attaches to the windshield. I am actually going to try to drill and tap the mirror mount from ford, so I can tighten it down with a set screw the same way the RAM mount tightens down.

I have Alk Technologies, PC Miler Navigator 430. It also uses NAVTEQ maps. It will still send me on truck restricted roads, happened to me today, and on very rare occasions, a low bridge. I'm trying to find out if the new Garmin GPS nuvi 465t for trucks uses NAVTEQ maps. If so, I wouldn't waste big money on these GPS's. I would just buy a cheap Tom Tom or Garmin, and read a map!!

Magellan RoadMate 760 3.8-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan RoadMate 760 3.8-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had a Roadmate 700 for 18 months, and it became an indispensible tool for my vehicle - especially when traveling to multiple locations I've never been to in a new city. On the downside, after 11 months I started getting automatic messages that my software was out of date - but Magellan hadn't released the new software. Four months later when they did, they failed to notify me even though I had registered for it.
Now I have the Roadmate 760, and the unit is even better. The flash card for saving addresses (use it, you'll be glad you did), the automatic re-routing for when you're stuck in traffic, and the automatic backlight adjustment are all handy. But after only two weeks, the new unit started freezing on startup. At three weeks it got worse, and I sent it back to Magellan - and learn they need "10 to 12 business days in-house" to fix it, plus shipping time. No apology, no offer to loan me another unit, no way to speed it up. My confidence in the company and the unit has dropped precipitously, and they seem not to care that they are converting a customer evangelist into a very unhappy user.
UPDATE on the above, 3 months later:
My love/hate relationship is deeper than before. I recently was stuck in traffic on I-95 when terrorist threats shut down all tunnels around Baltimore. I checked the gps for nearest exit, worked my way to it, then re-programmed the unit for "least use of freeways". It then guided me through areas of Baltimore that by-passed all tunnels, and I made a critical meeting in Delaware on time. My wife also uses it, and she clearly is more comfortable knowing she will not get lost. This is worth a lot to both of us.
On the other hand, the unit is freezing for the second time, and is now on its way back for repairs again. This means another two weeks of waiting for a 4 month old unit to be repaired a second time.
ARRGGHHH!

ARKON APMM300-VSM Vehicle Specific Mount Adapter Plate Converts 4 Hole AMPS VSM to Mio Moov 300 Series Pattern Review

I have other Arkon mounting products, so I thought that this would perform just as well. I have it connected properly, but my Magellan 5045 bounces around like crazy under normal driving conditions. For whatever reason, they decided to make this mount more narrow than the one that typically comes with the newer Magellan GPS units. That combined with it not snapping into the unit securely, makes this thing a terrible choice.
Fortunately, I realized that the windshield mount that comes with the Magellan 5045 can be disassembled, leaving you with just the part that snaps onto the ball joint. Even though it's not locked into the ball joint with a plastic nut, it still makes a strong hold and doesn't wobble at all.

Magellan Maestro 4210 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan Maestro 4210 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

I got a 4210 2 weeks ago. Used to have a Roadmate 760 before. 4210 is very quick to run on and get satellite reception. Extremely easy user interface - my 10 year old daughter got it without any instructions. Display is wide, bright and excellent in day light as well as at night. Very compact and easy to carry in a pocket. Will work in pedestrian mode as well - really neat and a nice feature over my previous bulky unit. It has AAA assistance but not detailed information on AAA sites. Does not announce street names like Roadmate 760 did (but I don't care for that feature - it is annoying). Lacks bluetooth connectivity. I have not found any accuracy problems. Bottomline - a pretty good unit.

Magellan Meridian PC Data Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter Review

Magellan Meridian PC Data Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Having data and power in the same cable is VERY useful. Considering the advances in cabling, however, I would think that having ONLY a DB-9 serial data cable is a limitation. For example, I'm now looking for an adaptor from the DB-9 to USB. That being said, it's a very useful connector, and it DOES work with the SporTrak Pro, not just the Meridian. A data cable is included with the SporTrak Pro, but not an external power cable. There is a less expensive power cable, but if you want to have both power and data, this is the only way to go, since there's only one connection on the GPSR.

Magellan RoadMate 360 2.9-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan RoadMate 360 2.9-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

(More customer reviews)
My husband bought me this wonderful unit for Christmas and I love it! Since it has all the maps pre-loaded we just plugged it in (with the included cigarette light adaptor), installed it (with the included windshield mount) and in a few mintues we were ready to go. It finds itself in about a minute in heavy tree cover, and in just seconds in open areas. It seems possible that the person who wrote a previous review that his unit regularly took 20 minutes for location could have forgotten to extend the antenna or his unit was defective. Also, the 360 is not meant for handheld operation (hence the name RoadMate) so it needs no internal batteries. After a quick look at the owner's manual, the Magellan is easy to use. The address autofill function is wonderful - I preloaded my personal addresses at home (with the provided AC adaptor) with ease. The voice directions are clear, the screen bright and large, the maps easy to see. It reminds me of the functional design and usability of the Mactinosh computers. I can't recommend the 360 more highly.

Sporting a convenient windshield mount and preloaded maps of all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and Canada, the Magellan RoadMate 360 GPS makes vehicle navigation a snap. To get from point A to point B, simply touch the screen to enter an address or select from nearly two million points of interest (POI). Once the destination is clear, the RoadMate 360 delivers friendly voice prompting and turn-by-turn guidance, helping you find your way across town or across the country. The directions are displayed in TrueView 3-D format, with three convenient guidance screens, while the voice prompts help keep your eyes focused on the road when the traffic is heavy. Plus, the POIs aren't limited to just restaurants, hotels, and gas stations; they also include such locations as grocery stores, golf courses, museums, amusement parks, parking garages, ski resorts, and more.
The RoadMate 360 employs Magellan's TrueFix technology to ensure reliable accuracy within three meters. TrueFix tracks 12 GPS satellites plus two Wide-Area Augmentation Satellites (WAAS) to find your position on the map, so you'll always know where you are and where you're going. And the maps are easy to decipher thanks to the 2.9-by-2.2-inch high-resolution TFT LCD full-color display. The display's three guidance screens include TrueView, which shows a detailed view of the actual road layout, with upcoming turns and info on intersection maneuvers; MapView, with super-bright, easy-to-read, zoomable icons and text dispersed on a detailed, high-resolution map; and a Maneuver List, which tells you when and where to expect turns along the route.
Meanwhile, Magellan's Trip Planner makes it easier than ever to navigate journeys with multiple destinations. Should you need to get gas, visit the ATM, and stop by the florist before heading to the restaurant for Mom's birthday, you can simply preprogram your trip, and the RoadMate 360 figures out the easiest route. It's much less hassle than re-entering destination points after every stop. Other ways of navigating include choosing the shortest route, finding a path with the fewest toll roads or freeways, or choosing a route with the most freeways. And should one route prove problematic because of heavy traffic or a closed road, the RoadMate 360 will automatically calculate a new path.
Finally, the RoadMate 360 is remarkably easy to use. Installation is effortless--simply mount it on the windshield, plug in the power cord, and you're ready to go. The unit requires no additional wiring, and users can transfer the device from car to car or simply tuck it in a briefcase or suitcase when on the road. Once you sit down in your rental car, you'll have a comprehensive map at your fingertips. In addition, the unit automatically turns on each time you start the car, so you don't even need to mess with an on/off button.
Additional features include an address book that stores up to 200 personal or business destinations per user (for a total of 600); an Instant Locate function that immediately describes your current location, a must in case of emergency or need for roadside assistance; and QuickSpell technology, which suggests street and city matches after you type the first few letters of a destination.
The RoadMate 360 measures 6.2 by 3.1 by 1.2 inches (W by H by D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box RoadMate 360 GPS, pre-installed Secure Digital (SD) card, windshield mount, power cord, and user's manual.
