(More customer reviews)Used on new Magellan 760. Happy to see that they gave you instructions. Magellan reference manual doesn't show you how to attach. You have to pull off the antenna attached to the Magellan GPS (it snaps on and off) and plug the external antenna in. The magentic base really holds on to the point it is hard to remove, has a rubber ring base but it doesn't completely cover the whole base just the outside edge. Works well you get a better constant signal than using the units supplied antenna but you have to figure out what to do with all the extra wire that you don't use. I gave it a 4 stars due to the pricing. Check out aftermarket antenna's before buying one.

(More customer reviews)I am going to start this review by saying, I love RAM mounts.. after getting this, and seeing the quality of the actual parts, I bought many more mounts and extensions. Some from amazon and some directly from RAM that amazon didnt carry. Everything in my car is going to be RAM mounted.. tomtom goLive 740, myTouch 3G slide, and a Sony vaio ux90 UMPC.
Now, the main reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 5 is.. my mirror now shakes like mad just driving down the street. So bad that I cant barely see what is going on at night because its just a bunch of big blurry light streaks. I have been looking at things and it appears that it is the mount part that you mount your mirror to, not the part where the mount attaches to the windshield. I am actually going to try to drill and tap the mirror mount from ford, so I can tighten it down with a set screw the same way the RAM mount tightens down.

It will still send me on truck restricted roads, happened to me today, and on very rare occasions, a low bridge. I'm trying to find out if the new Garmin GPS nuvi 465t for trucks uses NAVTEQ maps. If so, I wouldn't waste big money on these GPS's. I would just buy a cheap Tom Tom or Garmin, and read a map!!

Magellan RoadMate 3045 4.7-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

(More customer reviews)I boguht a Magellan 3045 in April and had its firmware updated in early September. It navigates well with a bright display, clear voice guidance and nice GUI. The focus would be mainly on the things that I have experienced and don't like and that could need improvements, since most reviews available on the net are positive. I had contacted Magellan support multiple times before the firmware update. The support had been responsive, but not really in any capacity to address a customer's concerns. With all said, I have used a few GPS and done readings on the net before purchasing it.
My driving is mainly local commuting.
Don't like:
1. The shining frame is an eye sore, particularly in sunny days.
2. The free traffic report comes with really annoying Ads (advertisements), not live coupons. I didn't realize what the Ad meant. The Ads are stored in the units. The original firmware display 4 to 5 Ads every 3 minutes. Since the rotating Ads are not live, they are the same again and again. Worse, Ads pop up even when not using the traffic module by turning off in the settings or running with the battery. The only way to turn the Ads off is by turning off the traffic report in the setting and resetting the unit. However, after the firmware update, Ads pop up in a similar way with few Ads each time (1 or 2), and seeming dependent on the traveling speed. The worst is the Ads can NOT be turned off any more. If the live traffic report is not used, the Ad display should be off. (I wonder if Ads would distract a driver to the extent to be considered unsafe.)
3. As the other comment, from time to time unpredictably, the display and physical street are out of sync by quite a bit. It has nothing to do with screen information/signal update. On multiple occasions, I stopped the car. The streets were behind me and the display indicated they were still ahead. The firmware update doesn't help. Although annoying, however in reality, it hasn't caused to miss a turn.
Would like:
1. The wide format screen is not optimal for car traveling forward. I would like to see more ahead than aside. Thus a more square-like display may make more sense.
2. There isn't a zoom-level indicator. It isn't easy to go back to a level that a person has been used to at different routes.
3. A (auto) zoom level settings for different driving environments would be nice, i.e. on high way (less zoom) or local routes (more zoom).
4. The turn auto-zoom is a great feature. However, it tends to zoom in to much. The coming turn is zoomed out and not visible till fairly late. By decreasing the zoom, it helps. The turn auto-zoom should keep the next turn on the display.

Magellan RoadMate 1700 Extended Mount Review

(More customer reviews)Simply put, this item is for those with large windshields (truckers, vans, etc). I use it in my 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup. Since I wanted the unit to be high on the windshield, I needed a sturdy mount that would hold my unit without obscuring my view of the roadway. This extension unit is sturdy enough to place the suction behind the rearview mirror and extend the GPS in front of me...up high as noted in the photos.
A bit pricey, but works great. You will find the suction cup to be incredibly effective (clean your windshield thoroughly with Windex and newspapers to remove any greasy film). I use my unit in my truck and work offroad in construction. So far, it hasn't broken the suction seal!
Recommend it to anyone that needs something longer than the one provided with the GPS. It also comes with the mount where the unit actually slides onto.

(More customer reviews)After seeking something better than a dashboard matt or magnetic pad for my Nextar GPS unit, I saw this ARKON CM097-2 model being offered. I didn't want the sticky adhesives or pads that crowded the dashboard, but I didn't want to allow the GPS to be visible in the car when parked.
My vehicle is a "2008" Ford Taurus SEL...and it has a console between the front seats. I thought it would best work on the inner, lower dashboard under the radio/cd player, where it could only be viewed by us when in route...it fits well there and it works great..."BUT", it doesn't stay in the upright position when the GSP is mounted on it. The device when the car is in motion and/or experiences a slight jolt...the device tilts over!!
Which means while driving and you glance at it, you sometimes have to reach over and place it back up. It is pushed in enough that I thought the spring clips on the shaft would secure it. Anyways...I will keep working with it to get it to stay upright. The product is a good idea especially when it keeps the device somewhat out of other viewers eyesight.

Suction application works great. Think out of the box for different mounting locations because of the size of the GPS unit and obstructed views for dash or windshield mounting.

(More customer reviews)I am the perfect target GPS user. Zero sense of direction and I'm always moving to new cities (military). Maggie, my first Magellan, was wonderful and sweet and got outdated enough to make looking for an upgrade a good idea. I did my research and chose the Roadmate 2055 - though other brands seemed to have more well-rated options, I stuck with Maggie. The first unit I received worked just long enough for me to pair to my cellphone with Bluetooth and import my contacts (a wonderful upgrade feature that made me very excited to get to know Maggie Junior). The second time I turned it on, it froze as soon as I selected the green checkmark icon on the "promise not to crash while using this" screen. I went through the returns process with Amazon (very smooth, no complaints there) and was sent a second unit.
Maggie Junior2 worked for about 5 uses. I received a phonecall and attempted to select the Bluetooth menu to pick up the call through the GPS and the unit immediately froze. Again, I was able to power it down, but upon power-up it once again froze at the "don't GPS and drive" screen. I never could get back in. I'm willing to accept a single defective unit, but I'm not willing to accept two in a row. I'm sad to say goodbye to Maggie, but I have high hopes for Gary. Garmy. Oh I haven't decided yet.

(More customer reviews)This is my second GPS. The first being a rather crappy and small Nextar that was included with the car. So right off the bat, I am starting off with a rather unever comparison.
The Magellan GPS has a ton of features, some very necessary while the others are a nice touch but not essential. This includes the AAA recommendations. I love the rerouting feature which is pretty fast. It also comes with Bluetooth capabilities. This thing is huge so be careful about mounting it on the windshield as it may come off. I basically set it on the dashboard and adjusted the holder in a way as to provide support at the base.
I am a bit biased about the price as I received mine free of cost from Vine. I am not sure how much these brands run usually but Amazon has it listed at $250.

(More customer reviews)I bought this because I was interested in the larger display. We use it in a motorhome and both of us like to be able to see the GPS. Not so easy with a typical 3.5" unit. We previously owned a Maggelan unit and were happy with it but wanted a larger display.
This unit is almost idea, the display is very clear, it is easy to set up prior to a trip and it has no fluff that we have no need for like bluetooth, MP3 player etc. It's a GPS, not a multi-purpose unit. Which is what I want. I really like the lane change feature, that's almost enough to make the new unit worthwhile by itself. So far it has worked flawlessly. The only downside is that it will not run very long without being plugged into 12V (30 min). I suspect because of the large display. But that's not really a issue since we have it plugged in all the time anyway. One feature I like is the small suction cup, it takes much less dashboard/window real estate that our previous unit. We us a non-skid "pillow" most of the time, but use the suction cup in the car and it's much easier to mount.
Just wanted to make a update - We now have a lot more miles on the clock using this unit. We had no issue with it being slow or not giving us enough time to react like another reviewer found. And I often need lots of time due to the length of our MH and car together. We didn't have any routing issues either. Guess that's why there are many different models and companies producing these things.
I have to give Amazon a plug as well. I looked at Best Buy and one other store, they didn't even know this model existed. Amazon shipped it and I received it in less that 18 hours. We were on a one day stop while traveling. That's really good service.
