(More customer reviews)I am a big fan of portable GPS receivers. I have owned close to a dozen units over the years and currently have about six. Some I use some for hiking or geocaching and others I use when driving or traveling.
After choosing a model and mounting accessory that's right for you the next important decision is finding a protective case that's going to hold everything that you need to take with you. There are plenty of nice cases made for hand-held GPS's but when it comes to automotive units it's much harder the find the right one.
I really like this case from Lowe Pro. It's big enough to hold your GPS, the power cord, a window or friction mount and a few other small accessories yet is still small enough to travel with. I would prefer one a little smaller but then it probably wouldn't hold every thing. I really nice feature is that the exterior pocket (the one that holds the GPS) is padded on both sides for extra protection.
I thought that a video review would help potential buyers to get a better idea as to whether this case would work for them or not. Thanks!

Magellan Meridian Canvas Carrying Case Review

(More customer reviews)It's a basic rectangular padded case - about 8 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches, single compartment, with a 3 inch belt loop on the back. The package says this case fits a Meridian GPS and 4 AA batteries. It does, but the batteries are just loose in the bottom of the case. The Meridian is pretty rugged on its own, but this case is just the thing to keep the screen from getting scratched up. And it is nice to have spare batteries in the same place as the GPS. Also, the case is roomy enough so you could probably slip one or two folded map printouts or geocache descriptions in it as well.
On the other hand, because it has all that room it is a little bulky to wear on the belt. If that's what you want to do then you might look for a smaller generic case instead.

My Garmin 265wt slid around underneath the stretch straps - which basically didn't securely secure the Garmin. I can't say anything about the other Garmin models but this is NOT a good case for the 265wt.

Yes, its hard shell protects the GPS's screen, but more importantly, it is thin enough to fit virtually anywhere the GPS itself might fit. Therefore having this in one's purse or satchel utterly eliminates the lazy-factor we all must overcome - you know, the one that says, "I can't be bothered taking my GPS off the dashboard just to run into the deli... I'll only be in there, what... 5 minutes... nobody will steal it in that short amount of time." When the GPS is in it's dashboard holder, I keep the carrying case unzipped in my satchel. I takes about 5 seconds to unclip it and slide it into the hardshell case, then I zip it. You'll never regret buying one of these cases.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice case. It is hard enough, made of nice materials. It is a snug fit for my nuvi 765T. The only thing I don't like is the zipper is somewhat hard to close around the corners and you have to make some effort to align the case and the zipper so it closes. Recommended.
Update: The dimensions (outside) are 3.5" (95mm) x 5.25" (135mm) x 1.125" (30mm) NOT 6 x 1 x 8 inches!

Case Logic GPSS-2 Neoprene sport GPS Case (Dark Blue) Review

(More customer reviews)I couldn't be happier with this case. I was looking for something that had a slim profile but still offered some shock protection. I saw the Incase neoprene sleeve at Target and really liked it. It fit my Nuvi like a glove, and the soft furry lining was nice too. But at $25 plus tax I thought maybe I could find something else I liked for a bit less money. The cheaper sleeves and cases I looked at were either too bulky (I don't need to carry the cord with me), or did not match up to the quality of the Incase. Then I saw the smaller version of this Case Logic and thought it was perfect. For some reason, no one seemed to stock the larger size so I ended up ordering it here.
What I really like about this case is that the neoprene in front is stiffened to protect the screen without adding any bulk. It is a smidgen longer than the Incase, so while I wouldn't say it fits like a glove it is still quite snug, and I actually think it's a better fit in terms of protecting the unit. By the way, Amazon has the dimensions wrong here. Per the Case Logic site: Size is 6" x 4"x 1.25". Interior dimensions are 5.75 x 3.75" x 1.25". If I hadn't checked that out I would not have bought this because 8.4 x 4.3 is way too big.
In all, it's a nice looking case, seems to be well made with a smooth zipper, easy to slip the GPS in and out, and doesn't take up too much room in my purse. (The wrist strap comes off it you don't need it.). I thought the price was really reasonable too (Got mine in blue for $12.59 with free shpg).
