I have attached it to the vent just to the right of the steering wheel and it works just perfect to hold my garmin Nuvi 255W. It is now as easy to glance at the Garmin as it is to glance at the speedometer or any other dash intrument while I am driving.
It is small and unobtrusive so I just leave it attached and only remove my Garmin when I am away from the car.
I would recommend. It is an excellent product for the price.

(More customer reviews)Although this replacement stated that it is specifically for the Nuvi 300 series, it did not fit my 350 model. Do not purchase this you have a model that requires the antenna (yes this is an old discontinued model) to be in an upright position. The GPS cannot acquire the satellite when it is not up and activated. Otherwise, the product is okay, but the clips are somewhat too tight and do not allow for pushing the clips further into your air vent. Hope this helps!

(More customer reviews)It definitely works, but only has one mount adapter compared to some alternatives like NAVGEAR 14027 Universal GPS Vent Mount which come with many adapters for various GPS devices, except missing the single-slot Magellan or Mio. I bought this primarily to get the single-slot adapter that comes with this and can be used with the NavGear 14027. This mount comes with a 2-slot adapter built in that the single-slot mount you see pictured connects on top of. This mount underneath the single-slot adapter matches the 2-slot magellan mount. So you can take the single-slot adapter and connect it to another 2-slot magellan adapter on another mount if you want to convert it to a single-slot mount and use that mount. I really liked the NavGear 14027 vent mount and can use just the adapter plate that this comes with to connect to that which didn't come with it. However, this mount still works well enough on its own.
This connects to your vent similarly to the other mounts by sliding between the vent blades whether they are horizontal, vertical, or have different spacing as long as they are not too narrow. It fits fine in my Honda Accord. The arms are quite versatile and can be adjusted within the bracket by being able to freely rotate them to angle up or down depending on your vent angle on horizontal blades, or rotate them to grab vertical blades. Just rememember you can completely turn them over to adjust as you see fit. You can also slide them left and right within the bracket to match the spacing of your vent. The weight ultimately sits on the bottom lever so all it is trying to do is hang on for stability and use gravity to hold the unit most of the time.
This vent connection differs from the NavGear 14027 by using clips instead of a spring and slider system. It makes it easier to slide on and off compared to the NavGear 14027's spring-based system. However this makes you squeeze an all-plastic clip to make it flex unlike a metal spring. Both will have fatigue over time, but I think a spring will last a lot longer than the all-plastic clip that you bend by squeezing. I suspect the force of frequent use will break this faster. Also, it is pretty strong, and it feels rougher on my vent blades than the spring system which is rougher on my hands. So this one is easier to put on and take off, but I worry more about the durability and being more rough on the vent blades. I prefer the NavGear connection, but this one seem fine. I would just be careful and it should probably be fine.
The mount adapter itself that connects to your GPS unit work well enough. This seems to be identical to the single-slot adapter on the magellan windshield mount that came with my magellan, except that as you can see from the picture it doesn't have the offset slot to connect the power to the mount. You can still plug in the power while mounted, it is just that the power cord isn't also mounted firmly on the adapter like the official magellan adapter. I prefer this in some ways because I had a really hard time trying to get my official magellan windshield adapter to connect because it didn't perfectly line up. So by being free of the mount it is very easy just to slide your magellan over the mount slot and connect the power separately. I really like that. However, the magellan seems to rely on the offset power connection being tied into the adapter for a more firm grip and stability. It by no means will fall off and is a good connection with just the single slot. You can still use the screene asily. However, it isn't a firm enough grip to keep it from shaking around more with road vibrations an bumps. So it definitely shakes more than other mount methods that have a firmer grip. It just seems to be a flaw in a single slot design that requires an adapter to hang onto the power cord too to add stability. I was going to use a twist tie or something next to try to connect the power cord a little bit to add some more stability. It is certainly usable as-is, just not as nice as a firm grip compared to my TomTom, and more annoying for it to shake more. However, this same single-slot connection is about the only choice you have for single-slot magellans and will be the same on most until they improve as single-slot magellans become more common. Even magellan only offered just the windshield mount that it came with, which I cannot use.

(More customer reviews)I have been looking for a mount for my Garmin that doesn't go on the window. In California and Minnesota its illegal and this mount was the perfect solution. I have bought mounts that attach to the air vent and those can be frustrating to attach and detach.
This mount attaches securely to the lighter Socket and doesn't move around. The integrated Power cable ensures that you don't need the long Garmin power cable dangling around in your car.
This works perfectly in the Toyota Camry, but may not work in every car model. It all depends on where the car has its lighter socket.
I really love this mount. Its a great value and works so much better than most of the mounting solutions out there.

Bracketron PHV-202-BL Grip-iT GPS and Mobile Device Holder (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this Grip-iT holder to use with my iPhone 3g. It is great built quality and installs very easily into the air vent in my car. It seems to be pretty sturdy and holds the iPhone 3g very nicely without any fear of it falling out. The bottom fold out brace bars are adjustable which is good for the iphone since you will want to move them from blocking the speakers. I am very happy with my purchase!
So here is the only negative or flaw in this design for me. Although the Grip-iT mount has a very nice adjustable rotating ball mount that allows you to turn your device from portrait to landscape and "fine tune" the angle, it is a very manual process. Other car mounts like the Kensington mounts have a rotating holder that clicks into pre set angles but is very easily done even while driving. The Grip-iT require that you make your adjustment and then lock it into place by tightening a large finger adjustable "nut" behind your device. This requires 2 hands...one to hold your device in place and the other to tighten the mount. I don't recommend doing this while driving. This flaw would really only apply to devices that can work in landscape and portrait modes. Since I use a GPS app on my iPhone I want to flip the phone to landscape on the fly. This is not possible with this Grip-iT mount.
Over all it satisfies 99% of my requirements! For the price, I can't find a better value!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this vent mount just to see if it would be sufficient and since the windshield mount would not remain attached, not to mention the theft-inviting attribute of the windshield mount.
The unit is very good once attached.
Attaching and removing the unit is difficult since the pressure points where the clips are opened are very difficult to operate. This difficulty is enhanced by the fear that the unit could be broken fairly easily. Once attached, it is very good overall--enough adjustment is provided for angle and rotation, and on my 2 vehicles, the unit is stable without excess movement or vibration. This has been born-out with a 3200 mile trip to Mexico on rough roads, especially in the Mexican interior--possibly due to the tight clamping that is unfortunately part of the hassle factor of removing/attaching to vents--while mounted in a 2004 4X4 Supercrew on round AC vents (which is recommended against by the mount manufacturer).
Depending on the vehicle, leaving the unit on the mount is much less inviting to thievery vs. dash or windshield mount. Removing the GPS unit that I have (see my review of Magellan Maestro 3220 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Text-to-Speech) leaves an even decreased theft-attraction, and again even less when removing the GPS backplate attached to the vent mount.
4 stars due to overall effectiveness but be forewarned per removing and attaching hassles to AC vents.

(More customer reviews)The Suction cup mount kept falling off the windshield so I was looking for a new mount. I ordered this unit and have been very pleased with the results. It easily slided over the louvers on the A/C outlet and securely holds the GPS unit. Its only down fall, and its not the fault of the mount, is that it ads weight to the louvers and pulls them down so you can't aim the louver up to direct the air up and away from you. It was designed to be used on horizitional(?) louvers but it will also work on vertical units as well. I hace bought two additional holders for my other cars.

(More customer reviews)This product is great and does exactly it says, it Hold you Magellan GPS over your air vent. There is no risk of it sliding off since the teeth clamp all the around the fin of the vent. It is very easy to get on. Just slide it in. It is a little difficult to remove sometimes. Also, the vent even when it is lowest placement in my car still leans slightly upwards. This might not be a problem if your cars air vent is at eye level or lower, but mine is above my eye level. This product makes it easier to reach you GPS, it is as far as your car stereo is from you, and less visible to the public. What I did not like about the window clings was that people can see it even when they are just walking by. It raises the chances of the car being stolen, this air vent mount brings in down from the dash, and away from direct visibility, reducing the chances of your getting broken into. Not to mention that this looks more nicer than the window mount.

Mobi 70072 GPS Universal Vent Mount with QuickGrip Holder Review

(More customer reviews)I was hoping for a product that clamped firmly into the air vent. What I got was a device that clamps onto one of the louvers with two pincher hooks at the top. The bottom is just a pedestal that rest somewhere on the center column. My console didn't provide any good place where this could securely rest.
If you have a car with adjustable air vents (i.e. you have a car built after 1970 or so) this thing just dangles loosely and flops around like the tongue of the aforementioned canine.
Also, each of the front grips comes with a removable extension that grips around the face of your device. If you think you might want to use these, NEVER remove them because once you do they will just fall off on their own.
I wouldn't trust this piece flimsy piece of @#$% to securely hold anything I spent more than a nickel on.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a way to mount my Garmin so it was within easy reach and this device works perfectly. It will put a bit of strain on your AC vents so buyer beware, if they are flimsy they could snap particularily if you push or pull the unit while mounted. The vents in my Infiniti are of quite a sturdy plastic build and they work fine with no risk of breakage. If you've got the vents for it it'll work as advertised. Otherwise you may have an inadvertent vent repair.
