(More customer reviews)I use a Tom Tom One and was forever having to clean the glass windshield to keep the suction cup from falling off. Since GPS's are often stollen you have to remove it at each stop and the suction cup just doesn't hold up well. This adapter not only clears that problem but it also eliminates the long power cord. This adapter also provides the USB 12 volts to the sytem. We use it on long trips in two cars and with the swivel and articulating arm you can postion it just right for driver viewing and it just pulls out easily at each stop for out of sight storage. The only caution is that if you buy one, make sure you get the proper adapter for your unit. We have an older Tom Tom One and had to have them send us an adapter to fit the arm for the older model. Highly recommended and I'm buying another one for my son for Christmas.

Bracketron PHV-202-BL Grip-iT GPS and Mobile Device Holder (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this Grip-iT holder to use with my iPhone 3g. It is great built quality and installs very easily into the air vent in my car. It seems to be pretty sturdy and holds the iPhone 3g very nicely without any fear of it falling out. The bottom fold out brace bars are adjustable which is good for the iphone since you will want to move them from blocking the speakers. I am very happy with my purchase!
So here is the only negative or flaw in this design for me. Although the Grip-iT mount has a very nice adjustable rotating ball mount that allows you to turn your device from portrait to landscape and "fine tune" the angle, it is a very manual process. Other car mounts like the Kensington mounts have a rotating holder that clicks into pre set angles but is very easily done even while driving. The Grip-iT require that you make your adjustment and then lock it into place by tightening a large finger adjustable "nut" behind your device. This requires 2 hands...one to hold your device in place and the other to tighten the mount. I don't recommend doing this while driving. This flaw would really only apply to devices that can work in landscape and portrait modes. Since I use a GPS app on my iPhone I want to flip the phone to landscape on the fly. This is not possible with this Grip-iT mount.
Over all it satisfies 99% of my requirements! For the price, I can't find a better value!

Spring clamp hooks to the car's air vent- screw and adhesive options also included. I opted for this style as I didn't have to have a bulky case or clip attached to my phone. The whole unit just sits in the car and you pop your device in and go- it is super easy to remove your device too. I love it!

Heininger 1040 CommuteMate Black NavCup Review

(More customer reviews)Tried the NavCup with a Garmin Nuvi 265. The NavCup/Garmin was placed on the dash of my wife's Gen 2 Mini Cooper. The dash is made from a harder plastic, but is heavily grained. The NavCup worked well until the car started moving. The whole thing ended up in my wife's lap the first time we pulled away from a stop sign. The first time around a corner resulted in the whole thing sliding across the dash.
I am going to try this on a different car tomorrow to see if performance improves, but at this point I am planning to return for a full refund.
I cannot recommend purchasing the NavCup unless the top of your dash is made from something sticky.

I need to revise this recommendation. Tried the NavCup in several different rented vehicles while on a business trip with better results. The top of the dash greatly affects how well this product works. With my wife's car (see above) the GPS stays put in the NavCup, but the NavCup slides around during acceleration or cornering. I tried the same set-up in my Gen 1 Mini Cooper S (slightly different dash design) and everything stayed put provided that I shoved the NavCup against the windshield, which wedged it in place. The NavCup stayed in place in the cars I renter because the contour of the dash prevented movement.
The NavCup is easier to use when making a rest stop because all you need to do is pick up everything to hide it. I don't have to worry about the GPS dropping off of the windshield because the suction cup mount looses grip on a cold windshield. I also don't have to worry about the NavCup breaking because of rough handling.
The NavCup doesn't work so well on dashes that are flat or slightly crowned. It works much better on dashes that have recesses or contours that will keep everything from sliding around.

(More customer reviews)We had it on my husbands dirt bike a little over a day, when he somehow bumped it with his leg and it cracked in half. (I seem to recall something about "I was falling and I went to save myself .... LOL) I've got it on my quad and it's great!!!! Holds tight and I've not had any problems. I just ordered another one for his bike ... I have faith it was just a fluke (Of course ... since he never rides extreem rides and he never falls LOL) and hope his next one holds up better (thinking I should have ordered a case?!?!?) :)
