(More customer reviews)We purchased this to go with our Humminbird 998c Si Side-Imaging Fishfinder. We were a little concerned about the construction of the mount because we did not want to see our Humminbird Fishfinder fall off and take the plunge of death into the water. Our worries went away quickly when we received the box and noticed how much the mount weighed. It is made of heavy aluminum and once you install it on your boat - it is going to stay there without question. The fishfinder attaches to the mount with heavy duty screws/bolts. You can unloosing the knobs and adjust the viewing angle. There are no vibrations of wiggling. This probably the best mount available right now, it is even recommended by Humminbird.
This unit sells for almost $100 any place else, Amazon by far has it listed for the best price with free shipping ($79 when I purchased it).

(More customer reviews)I purchased this radar unit for my Hummer H2. I am very familiar with radar being a commercial pilot. I've owned radar detecting equipment off and on for 32 years. This is the most sophisticated highly sensitive unit I've owned and its easy to set up and operate. Its mounted on my dash since I cant reach the windshield from the drivers seat. The radar detector performs great. It has many features to reduce false alerts. I like the intellimute feature. It senses your RPMS and mutes the sound up to a preset RPM that you have entered, plus speed alerts you can preset. Mine is set at 75. It will chime and says "speed alert" if speed is exceeded, very handy and shows your speed when alerting. It has picked up state troopers in town blocks away, plenty of time to adjust your speed. The screen is visable in bright daylight, but I use the blackout feature which it goes dark after a preset time you enter but it will light back up upon a radar/gps signal. The icons can be set to different colors (green blue red orange or multi) to match your dash light colors. You can tell if its a false hit because it will only read out KA band, but a police radar hit will show the frequency he is using. The touch screen is priceless. Just a touch of an icon will change a feature and is very easy to change settings on the go, and the red-light/speed camera/speed trap detection is indispensible. As I was driving the interstate on a camp trip the Cobra 9970G alerted (caution speed trap area). Right after it alerted I looked over at the oncoming lanes and a state trooper had someone pulled over with lights flashing. This thing really works. The AURA Database is constantly updated every 12 hours and is free with the purchase of the 9970G. You can also manually set different alert locations up to 1000 of them. I usually set it up for school zones. It will alert you well ahead of them.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product at a big box store, on sale at the same price. I mounted it on one of those beanbag dash mounts; worked fine. The directions are clear; super-accurate. It updates when I deviate from course almost immediately, except once when my local knowledge flummoxed it for about 15 seconds.
The screen would be easy to see (less the sunglare) if it weren't just too close for my driving glasses and just too far for me to peer over them. That's my personal problem. Maybe I need bifocals. The spoken directions are clear and well-timed, so a detailed look at the screen isn't really necessary.
The traffic wake-up is virtually useless; it has to be connected in the car to work, and I am not leaving the unit in the car overnight, and certainly not in the garage at work, having already lost a stereo. Plus my car needs the key in the Accessories position to power the cigarette lighter, and I suspect that would not be a good idea. I haven't encountered any traffic to test it on the road, yet (which I guess is a good thing).
I had it about a week when it died: in the car, on the floor (the advantage of the beanbag mount) while I was in a store for about an hour. It would not turn back on. The Magellan support was excellent: I called, got an RMA number, shipped it, and expect a new unit (not a refurb) back in a few days (7-10 after shipping). I'll be a little more careful about heat, though you would expect that a device designed to sit exposed to the sky...
Assuming the replacement keeps its cool, I would recommend this, or one of the similar models.

Nextar SNAP5 Super Slim 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this now for several weeks and have used this side by side with my Navigon. Living in Northern Virginia, traffic can be a problem, and changing routes is very normal. With the Nextar SNAP5, I can be miles down the road before it kicks in with another route. More disconcerting is driving East on I-66 in Falls Church, and having the voice tell me I am going West. When signage tells me I'm going a direction, the compass tells me I'm going in that same direction and the GPS voice tells me differently, I panic and want to pull off the road but I know better. This system is large in screen, but that screen displays many icons and a map that is eclipsed by the Navigon 4.3 smaller size in package. Startup is much faster in the Navigon than the Nextar SNAP5 under the exact same conditions, as I turn them on at the same time in the same place and wait for the navigation to begin. It has taken me in very complicated and inefficient routes which would make Euler roll in his grave. The text to voice function is less clear than the Navigon and the voice often breaks in and out with delivery, making the words unrecognizable. I do not like the coiled cable at all, but do like the placement of the connection better than the one on the Navigon. The map representation on the screen is unappealing and difficult to read in either option available and it's extremely difficult to see during bright days. I sometimes cannot identify the map at all, regardless of how I position and reposition the device. I have not used the MP3 function and never will, so that's wasted on me. The POI's are nicely organized and it's interesting to find spots from a database that is very outdated which haven't existed for years. It's a great concept if it is current but otherwise is a waste of time and can cause problems if you head to a spot that doesn't exist. I do not know if updates are available as they are (with subscription purchase) for the Navigon. This also does not have a traffic update availability as does the Navigon. Since I don't use it without power from the vehicle, I cannot comment upon the battery life. A stylus is included, but I also haven't used that expect in a rare occasion. The carrying case is nice if you want to carry it, but I have yet to use the case. Very nice to have a power cord to charge it away from the car. All in all, the price of less than a hundred and a half is reasonable if you want the MP3 function but for me, I much prefer the Navigon.
