Got this for my hubby who is a huge jr. fan. Drove from Louisiana to Branson with it. On the plus side, it was nice to hear Jr.'s voice. Specific probs: Had probs finding our location! Honestly, it didn't know where we were! On two occasions, it took us on a wild goose chase only to put us right back where we started from - so basically ran us in a circle for about 30 mins each time. Twice on the interstate, it was telling us to "hang a left here". In the middle of the interstate. Very frustrating. We own a TomTom but had loaned it to the kids as were traveling to separate destinations and we bought this one for us. Doesn't compare to Tom. We so wanted to like this product b/c it's a great concept, but it's going back!

With turn-by-turn directions in Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s voice, a selection of vehicles for the GPS pointer, Points of Interest (POIs) unique to NASCAR and Dale Jr., and a pre-loaded Race Shop Tour Route, the Spotter is a portable navigation device (PND) like no other.

The Dale Jr. Edition Spotter possesses all the features you would expect from a high-quality PND:
Turn-by-turn guidance with street names (not available in Dale Jr's voice)
4.3-inch high-resolution LCD with anti-glare
SiRF Atlas III GPS Module with Windows CE 5.0 Operating System
Pre-loaded maps of the United States from Navteq (Q4 2008 map data)
Video player, music player, photo viewing, and e-book capabilities

What makes the Spotter unique is Dale Earnhardt Jr. Instead of a computer-generated voice, Dale Jr. provides turn-by-turn directions in a casual way, saying "just ahead, hang a right" or "back her down" when you miss a turn. You have a choice of Dale Jr.'s cars--Amp car, National Guard car, or Team Trailer--for the GPS pointer marking your position on the route.

The Spotter has two unique points-of-interest (POI) categories. First, the Dale Jr. POI contains a collection of places he likes to visit, businesses he owns, and where to get a great pizza. Dale Jr. even provides a little commentary on each of his stops. And second, the NASCAR POI includes all the NASCAR Home Tracks, NASCAR Speed Parks, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tracks, and team garages.
Just for the NASCAR fan, the Dale Jr. Edition Spotter comes pre-loaded with a Race Shop Tour Route. Start the tour at any point, and the Spotter will route you to 14 team garages and shops in the Charlotte, N.C., area.
