I was kind of disappointed in that the case is large enough to hold the GPS but there is no space to include the bracket and cable...so we are still not able to keep everything all together...but at least the GPS unit itself is protected.

Also felt I had to get shield too wet to get it into place, so was worried about getting moisture into the device.

I had recently purchased the Garmin nuvi 205W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator and wanted a case for it when not in use. I have to admit that it was the price that sold me and not necessarily the reviews. After all a 3 star average isn't that great. But I was willing to take the chance and I'm glad I did. I can easily fit my GPS, the 12V adapter with cord and a couple extra disks in the Lowepro 4.3-Inch Navi Shield GPS Carrying Case. I also have no problem zipping it up without any force or worry about applying too much pressure. The case is firm without being to hard and small enough to put in my purse or travel bag. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the inflated price. Had it not of been on sale, I would have passed it over. If you're looking to buy keep an eye on price fluctuations, a discount of $8 or more off the list price would be worth it.
I also added in a picture to the customer images to show the case holding my GPS and charger.

(More customer reviews)Charging systems get no love, but they can make the overall experience of a product much worse if not well designed and executed. This one, thankfully, is well thought out and seems well executed.
The plug/transformer/cord is compact but the interchangeable heads make it useful in a great many places. The output is standard mini-USB, which makes it useful for many other gadgets than just the included charging box to hold the proprietary Garmin battery (like a BlackBerry). It also means the charging box can be used with other mini-USB cords. So you may be able to leave half of this system at home, or use it to replace the charging system for another gadget you already carry. It also seems to be as small and light as one could imagine making it without sacrificing something useful, which is always appreciated by serious travelers.
I've owned and carried mine for over a year with the extra batteries and stuff in an Aerostich fleece bag, with no malfunctions or noticeable ill effects of any sort.

Garmin Portable Friction Mount Review

(More customer reviews)My Prius has a rough dashboard and a windshield that slopes very sharply. Thus, the suction cup mounts are not good solutions. Fortunately, the friction mount is a great solution. It works much better than I expected. Very stable, does not slide, and lets me adjust my Nuvi to a variety of different angles. I can place the GPS anywhere on the dash or even on the center console. Also works great when transferred to my wife's Ford.
Only downside to the device is that it has a rather large footprint, but not prohibitively large. I like the fact that I can easily use this in both of our family vehicles depending on where we need the GPS.
UPDATE: Now that I have used this mount regularly since May, I have to say this is the best mounting solution I've found for a GPS or any other device for my car. It hasn't slid out of place once!! Given the rise in GPS units being stolen from cars, this mount allows you to easily stash your GPS Unit and mount out of sight and then put it back into position with ease.
2009 Update: Still using this in my Prius and my wife has one too. It's held up quite well. It IS a bit bulky to store out of the way when not in use, but still a good solution. I usually remove my GPS from the mount (a simple process) and then place the mount as far under the seat as it will go. Not perfect, but the best solution I've found to date.

Garmin nüvi 205W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this unit for about 8 months. It has given me no problems what so ever. The bad thing about it for me is how basic it is. If you want bluetooth compatibility, traffic updates, movie times, etc on your GPS, then this is not the device for you. But if all you want is to get around and find places, then this unit will work well.
The price seems a little high right now for what it does ($180). For that price I would expect bluetooth compatibility. This unit does not say the road names, it just says turn left or turn right in 200 feet(not a big deal). When you look places up, it has their phone number and address (usually) which is nice because if its late at night, you can call first to see if they are still open.
This GPS has an SD card reader on the side, which can be used to view pictures in slideshow mode when you don't need the unit for navigation.
The screen is very bright during the day, so you can easily see the screen. And a nice feature is that when it gets dark, the screen automatically changes colors to 'night' mode, which helps when driving at night (the screen dims and the bright white background colors change to dark blues and blacks).
The trip features are nice. It keeps track of your average speed, how long you spent moving, how long you spent stopped, total travel time, how many miles you've gone, etc.
It takes about a minute to a minute and a half to find your location from a cold start, but if you leave it powered all the time (with a car in which the cig lighter stays on when you turn the car off) it never loses the location (not sure if that is bad for it).
The battery life is very good (about 4-5 hours).
There are many add-ons that a technologically advanced person can add to it. Such as custom points of interest (you can download them or even make your own, and you can set alerts so that it warns you when you are close to a certain place or when you are speeding in a school zone). You can add different vehicle icons to use as the car on the screen.
Overall, it is a decent, but very basic navigation device. Not many bells or whistles, but it gets you from point A to point B well.
