(More customer reviews)I purchased this item because my old power cord broke. This was specifically listed as being compatible for my brand of GPS. However, I found that the plug is a little small for the power recepticle and it loses contact, causing the GPS to shut off. I also found that the plug that goes into my gps is also too small, also causing a problem with consistent power. I have had to tape them into place and wedge them in order to use them. For the price, it's better than nothing, but I wouldn't recommend it.

(More customer reviews)This item is listed on Amazon as an accessory for the 60CSx. I just got the 60CSx and was adding things to my wish list. I would have added this AC adapter except that the CSx comes with a USB cable for data transfer. The cable also powers the GPS. Since I can't imagine that I would ever have my GPS turned on in the house unless I am using it with my PC, there is absolutely no need for this A/C adapter as the USB is the power source.
I am really glad I did not order it when I ordered the GPS!

(More customer reviews)It is not clear, either from the Amazon listing, or from the non-existent instructions included with this item, that the Garmin has to be connected to the CRADLE in order to charge. When I saw that the connections were incompatible I got angry and arranged to return this charger to Amazon. But, when I calmed down, I went to my car and removed the cradle and the charger works perfectly. This whole episode could have been avoided with proper WRITTEN instructions (which did not come with the charger, and/or a specific statement in the product listing). Anyway you look at it, this is just poor communication.

It is the replacement cable/speaker needed for your Garmin GPS system. It is identical to my original cable/speaker, which had broken (the metal prongs no longer made proper contact with the unit). My original cable no longer fit tightly into the unit--hopefully, that won't happen with this cable which seems to have a good, tight fit into the unit. This item (which cannot be obtained on the Garmin website or in any stores they list as carrying their products--I checked) works perfectly and seems reasonably priced.

(More customer reviews)Looking at the photo of this item, I noticed the plug at the end of this car lighter charger is NOT the screw on contraption needed for my eXplorist 400, so I was hesitant to purchase it until I did further research and found out WHY the plug is different.
You still need the USB cable that came with the eXplorist and have to bring it in the car too!
The big AC plug detaches from the USB cable, and AHA! Now you have a jack that this car charger can plug into! Then you screw that cable onto your GPS unit as when you charge it via AC.
In other words... This charger does NOT plug into your GPS, it plugs into your GPS charger cable which attaches to your GPS.
But I don't want to take that cable in the car with me, because if it gets damaged or lost, then I can never charge the unit at all, not even at home with AC.So I was forced to find and purchase another USB cable assembly seperately, to keep in the car with this car lighter charger.
Magellan should have just put the screw on connector at the end of this car charger instead of the way they did it.
The car lighter charger has a nice coiled cord, but what good is it? You still have to have the long USB cable attached to it anyway!
But hopefully this will help everyone, that like me, was puzzled by the photo of the item and the connector that isn't going to fit anywhere in the eXplorist 400.

These car chargers have the flat end needed to plug into your Garmin cradle. The majority of chargers sold aftermarket are using the USB ending, not these. Matches up to the Garmin 010-10747-03 and in our opinion is a firmer fitting.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this power cord for a Garmin 276 gps. I specifically wanted the one clearly pictured on the website that has the 90 deg bend at the end. I bought 2. I received the item and it does not fit the 276. The contacts are correctly placed but the rubber type product that is meant for a press fit into the gps is too small in diameter and the cord immediately falls out. The end of this cord is straight and not the 90 deg. It is packaged as a Garmin product with the 276c clearly on the package so I do not know where the problem lies. I tried to contact Antonline but they do not provide for any human to contact to explain/rectify the problem so I ended up sending the cords back and eating the shipping each way. Will never buy from Antonline again.Garmin 12-Volt Adapter Cable for GPSMap 276C (010-10516-00) I would personally verify with any vendor offering this product.

DeLorme AF-8085-201 Earthmate PN Series 12 Volt Power Cable Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased a replacement 12V power cable after accidentally melting the one that came with the DeLorme AG-8097-000 Earthmate PN Series Power Kit (completely my fault... don't ask). It works just as well as the original one, which is OK but not great (mainly problems with the GPS and the battery, not this adapter). It could also be used as a secondary charger to be kept in a second vehicle.
Note that this adapter will NOT recharge non-Delorme rechargeable batteries in-unit. You have to get the "CR-V3 LI-ION Approved Battery" from Delorme or in the Power Kit for in-unit recharging. This fact is well-documented and is a popular topic in the Delorme forums.
The recharge rate is extremely slow (again, problem with the GPS and battery). During an all-day geocaching trip with long drive times (about 3 hours total charging time) between multiple stops and long walking times during stops (about 6 hours walking/non-charging time), the charger couldn't keep up and I had to switch to alkaline.
But even if you don't have the "special" battery, this product is still functional. The unit works entirely off of external power while plugged in, so you aren't burning through expensive and landfill-clogging disposables. If want your receiver on while driving between geocaches or on the way to the trailhead, or want to extend battery life on your ATV equipped with a 12V power-point, this product can help.
The main problem I have with this product, though, is that it turns out that I didn't need to buy it. The GPS receiver will charge off the USB Data Transfer cable that came with the unit (strangely, Amazon does not sell this; you have to purchase a replacement or second cable directly from Delorme for $12.95 + $7 shipping). That cable plugged into my Scosche Dual USB Car Charger means I can charge my cell phone and my PN-40 from only one 12V power point. This is a huge bonus in my wife's vehicle where only one power point is reachable from the dash area.
Pros:
- Recharges the "CR-V3 LI-ION Approved Battery" in the GPS unit.
- Extends the life of any battery (even non-rechargeable).
Cons:
- Expensive for what you get.
- Yet another charger to have in your vehicle. A 12V-USB adapter used with a Data cable is better.
- Does not recharge non-Delorme rechargeable batteries (problem with GPS, not this product)
