Tomtom One Limited Edition Review

Tomtom One Limited Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been lusting after many GPS systems the last 6 months but finally made my purchase today! This is my first GPS unit.
Let me first state that i've put the TomTom One LE through a 100 miles of testing already and im quite satisfied.
Its important to remember that this is an entry level system at a very good price ($139 if you look around). Having said that, here is a run down of my experience with it:
1. The box is a pain to open. I tried to do it carefully but in the end I tore it apart in my excitement to get to the unit so there is no way id return the unit in its original packaging.
2. I opened it in my car, plugged it into my car's outlet, and powered it on. It took less than a minute to fully boot up, then it asked me to set my preferences. Quite simple to set up. These preferences can always be changed later or set later if you want to skip that part.
3. The windshield mount snaps onto the back of the unit and sticks to the windshield very well, i drove over some bumps to make sure.
4. Connectivity is good out in the open, even in some mildly foresty area it was good. I have not driven through a tunnel but im quite sure it will lose signal temporarily.
5. Installing the software on my MacBook Pro was very very easy, all i did was plug it in, pull up the disk and run the TomTom Home software installer. Next i backed up the unit, this took a little while because the backup file is nearly 1 GB. Be sure to have enough space on your hard disk. Next, i downloaded the update and installed it to the unit. Done with that. The unit will charge with the provided USB cable.
6. My development is not on the map, not in Google Maps either so im not surprised. I picked the nearest intersection to my house and set that as my home. Navigating through the menus is quite simple if you are competent in the least. When entering addresses/zip codes it can be a little hard to use the keyboard when mounted on the windshield, but a little patience and practice goes a long way. You can always pull it off the windshield and enter whatever you need. I think the touch screen sensitivity is quite good, the keyboard responds with the keys you want to press. The screen brightness is adjustable and quite good. I've set mine to 100% daytime and 0% nighttime and im satisfied with that. The setting to change the screen from daytime mode to nighttime mode is only 2 screens away, so the whole deal with the light sensor on the more expensive units is a waste in my opinion. Nothing wrong with changing the setting manually.
7. POIs are prety nice. It won't find you the nearest Wal-Mart or Macy's, but it will find you shopping centers, ATMs/Banks, Beaches, Parks, Restaurants, etc. You can find the ones closest to your current location, closest to a favorite location, closest to home, etc. Can't really ask for more from a basic GPS unit like this one.
8. I love how the unit is compact, not much larger than my wallet. The screen may appear small initially but i think it is quite adequate. The 3D view works well and i can see POIs quite clearly as im driving on a road.
9. Routing is fairly good, on rare occasions it will prompt you to make a U-turn when possible. If you miss a turn it will calculate an alternate route within 15 seconds. Avoiding a part of a route is also easy to do, just 2-3 menu screens away. If you want to be warned of a turn 2 miles before the turn needs to be performed, you can tell it to do so.
Finally, the word on the 'Latest map guarantee' and TomTom Map Share:
1. The latest map guarantee is available for 30 days from when you first use the unit.
2. The Map Share feature is free for only 1 year.In conclusion, this is the unit to get if you are looking for a good basic GPS system to get you out of trouble. It'll work well if you have an address you need to get to, just put it in and be on your way. If you are stuck in traffic take a random exit and the unit will find you another way.
It will NOT find you every Wal-Mart around you, and it will not do text-to-speech meaning it will not say the street names (i don't think this feature is necessary at all, this unit will tell you the distance. If you are lusting for text-to-speech, once you start using this unit you'll get over it.)
I hope i've helped.

TomTom ONE Carry Case and Strap Review

TomTom ONE Carry Case and Strap
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This case is minimalistic -- yes, size is a nice fit, but it's a lot softer case than you'd expect -- and bullet-proof nylon is better protection given the sensitive touch screen. This also gets weaker over time -- and gets more and more flimsy -- there's just not much to it, other than size. I recommend "The Sherpa" Swissgear, Medium Camera Case by WENGER -- didn't see it on Amazon's site (and they carry a bunch of WENGER products), but they should get it -- it's great for cameras as well, but is perfect for my Tom Tom ONE 3rd Gen -- and isn't flush against the inside edges on the sides, like most -- and doesn't shift at all. I paid $13.99 locally for it and tested about 20 bags/cases in the store until settling on that one. The best case for these is one with hard case and soft, cushion for face -- even one where the face never touched a surface would be perfect -- and for $25 (list price for this unit), you'd think TomTom would do it right. If they put time and effort into this design, I'd spend $30 or more. Also, the Sherpa has a nice belt strap that some people mentioned was a plus.
Hope that's helpful. I think I've spent about 10 hours or more testing Garmin, TomTom's, etc. -- and definitely don't want to risk damage to your unit.
Please note that my goal for the case is to take it with me on trips -- not carry it day to day, from car to car, so that may influence your decision.

TomTom Carrying Case for the TomTom One v.3 GPS Review

TomTom Carrying Case for the TomTom One v.3 GPS

There is just one downside to this case that I have come across: It does not seal all around the GPS leaving places for dirt and grime to get in. I also have the gray padded tomtom case that zips closed. Although not as "fancy" as this carry case, it is more functional for keeping the GPS safe from the elements.

TomTom ONE XL 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Maps of the U.S. and Canada (Factory Refurbished) Review

This TomTom unit works well, screen is easy to understand, and using it is simple. I had a Magellan before, would NEVER buy one again. Magellan's customer Service is horrible, TomToms support is much better and their website allows you to upgrade sattelite locations on your unit, so if you turn it on while you're driving, it finds you in less than a minute. The Magellan takes 5 - 10 minutes in the same situation!
There are less points of interest on the TomTom, but that's not that important to me. Most of the time I have an address or I'm looking for a gas station or hotel, which are usually listed.

TomTom ONE USB Battery Charger Review

TomTom ONE USB Battery Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I got my Tom Tom One, there was a quick start guide that was to say the least inadequite. One of the things they left out was the fact that you can charge your Tom Tom using the USB cable connected to your computer. Insted they have a stern warning in their quick start guide suggesting you spend 30 bucks more to buy the Charger. The Charger works fine, but I don't think much of Tom Tom's business ethics in not including detailed information about their product when the consumer purchases it so you don't end up spending money on things you really don't need. For that reason, I wouldn't give Tom Tom any stars.

Wonderfully versatile, the TomTom ONE Portable GPS Vehicle Navigation System is a Bluetooth-enabled device that can work just about anywhere in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada for route planning, traffic and weather updates, and cell phone communication. And because your ONE navigation system has so many uses, you will want to use it outside your vehicle as much as inside. That's where the TomTom ONE USB Battery Charger comes in. Designed for the internal lithium ion battery that powers the TomTom ONE, the battery charger gives you an alternative to recharging through your vehicle's cigarette lighter. All you need is a standard wall socket in your home, workplace, or hotel room, and you be able to recharge your navigation system's battery through the ONE's built-in USB port. And because the USB charger has an automatic cutoff that won't overcharge your battery, your navigation system will not only last longer, but will also be available for use more hours of the day. For convenience that simplifies your fast-moving lifestyle whether you're driving or parked, the TomTom ONE Battery Charger is an essential accessory.

I bought a TomTom ONE 125 and wanted a case for it before we went to FL. so I bought this one in a rush. The case did its' job of protecting the GPS but it sure is a tight fit with the EasyPort mount (suction cup) left on. Like another reviewer mentioned my pull tab also broke off of the zipper.
For my use I just bought an INCASE brand nylon padded GPS travel case at BB. This is a larger case but it has room for the TomTom, the USB cable, car charger, and some other odds and ends.

Cobra NAV One 5000 5-inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Review

Cobra NAV One 5000 5-inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
THE GOOD:
The unit's 5" screen is incredibly clear; spoken street names are loud and clear; menu is so easy to understand the unit can even be figured out without the book and just by navigating through screens. The "Go Home" button is great. If you're lost ... click "Go Home" and the unit directs you to any location set as "Home". Lots of great features, millions of points of interest; the Real-Time Traffic Information can be accessed with separate purchase of a Traffic Data Receiver. I'm not disappointed that I did not have to pay for something I did not need/want right now. The bluetooth option for accessing your cellphone is convenient although you may need to purchase a separate mic if callers have difficulty hearing your voice. Again, this was not a feature I was looking for and it was not as important to me as the large, crisp screen and the ease of use.
The unit has been greatly improved with software updates and I comfortably rely on it now that my initial issues were resolved. Cobra was extremely responsive to all questions/issues communicated by phone and email. Every problem was resolved in a timely fashion by knowledgeable technicians.

My system information is as follows:
Application: 1.4.0
Kernel: 1.49
Bootloader: 7
Database: 7036
Unit: 737000603011

THE ANNOYING:
1. SOFTWARE ERROR: "Fatal Error" [if you have this error contact Cobra (773-889-8870) for the update if unavailable on the website (www.cobra.com)]
RESOLVED ISSUE: A "Fatal Error" froze unit during 2nd day of use. After shutting unit down and leaving off for a few moments, it restarted and continued to function normally. Assuming a software issue I referenced Cobra website but found no updates available. Upon contacting Cobra a rep indicated a technician would contact me by phone. Surprisingly, within a few hours a tech called back. After a brief discussion he forwarded a software update by email. The instructions were easy to follow and the problem was resolved.
2. FEATURE: Trip Data

ISSUE: Eastern time incorrect. Unit apparently not updated w/Day Light Savings patch.
******
3. FEATURE: GPS Location

ISSUE: GPS location was occasionally incorrect. One day while in Winthrop, MA the unit displayed Chicago, IL. The location did not correct itself for approximately 15 mins. The unit appeared to exerience a delayed response in securing the GPS signal for reconfiguration as it was not even spinning the cobra icon evident while processing.
RESOLVED: I contacted Cobra and they directed me to return the unit for inspection with a detailed description of the problem. The unit was quickly sent back to me in perfect working order.
******
4. FEATURE: Hands-Free Calls from Bluetooth Enabled Cellular Phones - Speaker Volume

ISSUE: Although the adjustable volume of unit's spoken street names is clear and easy to hear; the Bluetooth feature is almost useless because callers can't hear me over the unit.
RESOLVED: Cobra provided a separate mic that resolved the issue. Again, this was not a feature I was looking for and was not as disappointed that this was not perfect. However, Cobra resolved a matter for me without any difficulty.
******
5. FEATURE: Exclusive Cobra-verified Speed and Red Light Camera location database

These are apparently not frequently used in my area. After completely forgetting about the feature, the unit alerted me to the location of an upcoming overhead traffic signal, complete with mounted cameras.
*****
6. FEATURE: Over 7.6 Million Interest Points

ISSUE: Points of Interest (POI) occasionally display on map when not selected in menu. It appears that POIs (i.e., gas stations, Indian/French restaurants, theatres, etc.) are easy to inadvertently select while scrolling through the menus since the screen is quite sensitive. Be sure to press the down arrow at the furthest right-hand side of the down symbol to avoid selecting the last item in a screen.
*****
7. FEATURE: Map Theme

ISSUE: Unit menu indicates 3 map themes: "Easy View/Standard/Simple." However, the manual and file content of recent software update list map themes as "Easy View/Standard/Fun."
Q. Is the unit displaying the correct map theme?
Q. Since the themes appear similar, what is the difference?
*****

8. FEATURE: For NAV ONE 5000 Map Update, order Item # MNA UPD 4000. (listed in product manual).

ISSUE: One week ago, I paid over $350 for the Cobra Nav One GPS 5000. It's apparently so new that Circuit City only had one unit for sale and software updates for glitches are not yet available online and are being forwarded to customers through email by Cobra technicians.
RESOLVED: Once again, Cobra appreciated my situation as a customer and kindly forwarded the Map Update at no charge since I purchased the unit with an older version installed.
*****

9. FEATURE: Battery Operation

ISSUE: Even with Battery Save Mode activated, the unit can run for approximately 1-2 hours without being plugged into the cig adapter. If you do not have an auxiliary charger in the car you can purchase a double adapter in order to have an extra outlet to charge your cellphone.
*****

Cobra GPSM 2100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Cobra GPSM 2100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Went to the store with every intention of purchasing TomTom One or the comparably priced Garmin GPS I had researched online for the past week. Really confusing considering all of GPS reviews I'd read gave no definitive explanations on why one rated over the other. Since it all seemed to come down to personal preference, I figured the only way to make a final decision was to demo each model at the store.
The TomTom One would not work! Each time I started to enter an address, the unit would revert back to demo ads. The Garmin model I was interested in was not on display. The sales clerk was kind enough to turn on the TomTom go to demo, but it annoyingly shifted between a loud demo and attempting to pick up a signal. If not for this, I would have overlooked the Cobra 2100 entirely.
What first caught my attention was price. Having failed to demo the units I wanted, the Cobra 2100 was the only GPS on display within my price range. In fact, it was the same price as TomTom One, but appeared to be larger. Side by side comparison made TomTom One look like a toy! I clicked through the various demo options and watched a simulation of a drive from the store to my home. Fine, yet I still had my heart set on the TomTom and was about to find another store to demo the model, but I changed my mind.
Though never owning any Cobra products, I'm aware that Cobra was a big name in radar detection at one time. In addition to GPS navigation, the Cobra 2100 comes with traffic light camera detection and speed alerts already installed. There are more traffic light cameras being installed throughout Baltimore City everyday. This feature and the Cobra name convinced me to give the 2100 a try.
Had the 2100 installed and operating in no top flat. As mentioned elsewhere online, it took more time to get it out of the box than it took to connect it. Once turned on it quickly detected a signal and showed me my present location. After quickly scanning through the menu, I typed in my home address, clicked 'NAVIGATE' and was routed to my destination.
The Cobra 2100 offers a clear visual presentation of the route you're traveling while giving clear and precise verbal directions of how to proceed. Advisories are given continually and well in advance of any turns or deviations from your present course. There is no text-to-speech, though IMHO, none is needed as a quick glance identifies all streets along your route.
Options are given to choose specific routes, but I ignored this on my initial run. The Cobra 2100 (like MapQuest, sometimes) attempted to route me away from what I knew to be a quicker route. Upon ignoring the route suggested, the Cobra 2100 quickly recalculated, suggesting a route based on my adjustment. I followed the same route later, this time taking the route suggested by the Cobra 2100. Cobra added an additional 10 minutes to my journey by unnecessarily routing me on and off the interstate. The "detour" consisted of a series of rapid lane changes and turns. As it was night and the maneuvers demanded I pay strict attention to driving, I didn't chance glancing at the screen. To it's credit, the Cobra 2100 provided precise verbal navigation so there was no need to watch anything but the road. I find I'm not particularly concerned about Cobra's routing suggestion. Had I been unfamiliar with the area, the additional 10 minutes would not be factor at all since the Cobra 2100 WILL, it demonstrates, get me to your destination safely.
Oh...before I forget...I passed through one of those camera intersections while testing the Cobra. It signals the driver by producing a series of camera clicking sounds and displays an on-screen traffic icon as an advisory.
WAY COOL!

TomTom ONE Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator Review

TomTom ONE Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using my TomTom ONE for a week and a half or so and overall, I'm quite happy with it. Out of the box or after having been moved a significant distance while off, the unit takes about a minute or so at most to determine its position. From a warm start, it's usually a matter of seconds.
Route calculations are generally finished quickly, as are recalculations when you fail to follow the route. Since the shortest rout distance-wise isn't always the fastest, I've diverted from the TomTom's original route and it usually recalculated a new route within moments of me going 'off course.'
I've only run across a couple downsides to the TomTom ONE, neither of which is too serious. First, the maps (at least in the DC/MD/VA metro area) are a few years out of date. There are a number of roads which just aren't in the unit's database. Some streets 'lose' their name for some reason. For example, one section of a street on the map may be labeled as 'Main Street' and another part of the same street may be "Unnamed Road." City names can be kind of iffy as well. When trying to input a specific address, I've often had to resort to entering the address by zip code since the TomTom's map database considers my home to be in a neighboring city name-wise and it won't find my street name in the city in which I actually live.
The second thing that kept me from giving the device 5 stars is the client interface on the computer. The client is supposed to allow the user to access the ONE and perform certain functions on-screen, but apparently is missing some component to actually emulate the unit. I've not gotten a response from TomTom regarding the problem, but have read elsewhere online that they know there's an issue with the client.
Overall, the TomTom ONE is a very nice, basic navigation system. Updated maps and a fixed version of the PC client software will hopefully be forthcoming and would make it a 5 star product.

Coming to the United States after making a splash across Europe, the TomTom ONE is a complete portable GPS vehicle navigation device with an incredible range of features. A sleek design, comprehensive wireless capabilities, and a sharp display combine to make the TomTom ONE a vital companion on the road. Like TomTom's other navigation systems, ONE gives you coverage in all fifty of the United States.
But it's not just the broad geographical coverage that makes the TomTom ONE special. The user-friendly design also puts it a step above other navigation systems. The crystal-clear multicolor display makes for exceptionally easy viewing of maps, routes, driving directions, and other traveling information, such as mileage and distance. Measuring 3.5 inches, the TFT display offers a resolution of 320 x 240 to provide brilliant two- and three-dimensional graphics. The device also features 32 MB RAM and 380 MHz CPU, making it responsive and zippy. Using the USB port and the provided cable, you can use your PC to add your own points of interest. ONE provides clear and accurate turn-by-turn voice instructions, so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road while your vehicle is on the move. Voice instructions are issued at a speed-sensitive volume, so as your vehicle's engine becomes louder or quieter as your speed changes, the volume adjusts itself accordingly, guaranteeing clear and easy listening. And because voice instructions are available in over 30 languages, just about anyone will find the TomTom ONE to be an invaluable system. With its touch-sensitive screen, the TomTom ONE puts programming and operation literally at your fingertips to make sophisticated technology simple. The built-in database offers thousands of points of interest for you to use as destinations or reference points as you plan your trip. ONE will also provide a selection of available routes, giving you the option of avoiding toll roads or choosing between the quickest or the most scenic routes. The database includes zip codes to simplify your route selection, and for extra convenience, the TomTom ONE lets you save the addresses of frequent destinations, making route planning easier and faster than ever. Other display features include a compass mode to assist you with directional orientation, and an anti-glare screen for optimal viewing even in direct sunlight. For additional navigational features to assist with trip planning, the built-in Bluetooth connection provides access to TomTom PLUS subscription-based services, so that you can tune in to the latest traffic and weather conditions, as well as download additional city maps, voices, points of interest, and much more. Weighing less than 10 ounces and measuring 4.33 x 3.5 x 1.34 inches, the TomTom ONE can be easily installed in any vehicle. An included windshield suction mount holds it in place. Plus, with an operating temperature range of an icy -10 degrees to a sweltering 55 degrees Celsius (14 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit), the navigator is durable enough for New England winters or Arizona summers. The TomTom ONE is powered by an internal lithium ion battery that can be charged from your vehicle's cigarette lighter with the included 12-24V adapter. What's in the Box TomTom ONE device, suction mount, car charger, USB 2.0 data cable, and installation CD with connection software and manual.

TomTom One Third Edition Auto Navigation System (Factory Refurbished) Review

TomTom One Third Edition Auto Navigation System (Factory Refurbished)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I haven't used many GPS systems before so this is more of a review of this individual system as it stands on its own and not comparing it to other systems. Living in a large city, I don't own a car, but recently I needed to make a trip that entailed visiting 7 or 8 locations all within a few hours of each other (in a rental car). I knew that I might have to change the order of when I would get to each location or possibly not go to them all. Not being very familiar with the area I figured that it might be a good idea to get a GPS. This unit worked perfectly for the whole trip. I programed in each address before leaving and saved it as a favorite location which made picking a new destination really easy while driving. All of the directions accurate, and the computer voice was easy to understand (and you have a choice of a few voices as well). I'm not sure how many 'favorite' locations you can put in but I had in over 10 so you can enter at least that many.
Here's a list of other features that I liked:
- It came with a lighter/power cord for the car.
- Came with a USB cable to charge on the computer.
- You can update maps on the computer and backup your maps/info.
- It actually came with Macintosh software!! (as well as Windows of course)
- It came with a very useful suction cup holder to attach to the front windshield (it worked very well and never came off)
- This is a refurbished unit but it looked brand new. I didn't even see a small scratch on the unit.
- I liked the night mode that had darker colors.
- There is an option to have the volume adjust based on your car speed.
- It is small enough to put into a pocket or bag when you leave the car.
- I didn't use them but it has a bicycle mode and a walking mode.
- You can buy updates to maps or other map locations online.
Some features that you may not like:
- It doesn't say the name of the street you need to turn onto. (I didn't really mind that, though)
- The screen is pretty small. I actually liked it this way though, as I didn't want it to take up too much of my view out the front window. But if you have trouble reading small text it might be hard to see what the exit is, etc. Some elements, like your speed or arrival time are pretty small.
- When you first turn it on it can take 4 or 5 minutes to locate the GPS satellites. (not sure how this compares to other units)
- It would probably be hard to enter a new address while you're driving as the screen is pretty small. That's why I pre-entered them before hand.
- You have to go through a few menus to change the volume. Not too bad if your parked but if you're driving it can be a little tricky. (Don't crash)
I think that's about it. Again, I'm not sure how this compared to other portable units or other built in units but for what I wanted this was perfect, especially for the price and as of this writing there is a rebate as well.

TomTom ONE 3rd Edition 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator Review

TomTom ONE 3rd Edition 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Christmas is here again and that can only mean one thing...the GPS market is introducing new toys for consumers to play with. What we have here is the newly updated TomTom One (3rd Edition) which is the exact same dimensions and weight as the regular TomTom One ( 3.8" x 3.2" x 1.0" and 6.1 ounces ) with added features and of course newly updated Tele Atlas maps.
Lets start with the basics, for consumers looking to upgrade from the prior released TomTom One, the cosmetics of the product have changed slightly. The thin black plastic that outlined the screen has been replaced with the ever popular color silver. This gives the TomTom One a new space-age look that may appeal to some people while others (myself included) will find the new look cheap and clichéd. The SD card slot on the bottom of the unit has been replaced with an RDS-TMC antenna connector which is used for traffic reports. The antenna itself does not come with the unit and is available separately for roughly $129.00 but I find this accessory unneeded and pricey.
Moving on to the interface...needles to say the TomTom One (3rd Edition) borrows heavily from past TomTom operating system software so anyone who has used TomTom products will have a decent idea on how to maneuver around the already user-friendly interface. They have managed to add a few extras to the touch screen interface such as a "Help Me" button which when pressed opens features such as "Phone For Help" which displays emergency numbers for the current location (such as and typically 911) "Drive To Help" which show you the quickest way to the nearest police station or hospital and a "First Aid Guide" which is provided by the British Red Cross.
Also included in the safety features is an option to sound a custom alarm if any of the following occur:
1. When approaching a school or church
2. When driving faster than a set speed
3. When driving faster than allowed
A nice addition to the TomTom One (3rd Edition) is the ability to make your own map corrections. For example the city I live in recently shut down an existing department store and rebuilt a Super Center about a mile down the road about 3 months ago. Because of this recent change the Points Of Interest database had to be updated. I simply used the "Map Correction" feature to edit and move the existing Point Of Interest to its correct location on the map. Very convenient. The "Map Correction" feature also allows users to (Un)block A Street, Reverse Traffic Direction, Edit Street Names, Add Missing POI, and Report Other Errors.
Without say the TomTom One (3rd Edition) has been preloaded with the best maps on the market. The unit now runs on USA and Canada maps version 705.1481 provided by Tele Atlas. When compared to other GPS products on the market I've personally found that TomTom products have the edge when it comes to accuracy and map detail. The TomTom One is even polite enough to warn me when there is a toll road on a calculated route and then has enough courtesy to avoid it if I so desire, I've never gotten this kind of respect from my Garmin Nuvi 200.
The only down side to the TomTom One (3rd Edition) is its battery life. Even with all the upgrades we still only have a 2-hour battery charge that leaves us dependent on the cigarette charger in our cars. Oh well, can't win `em all.
For consumers interested in purchasing their first GPS unit the TomTom One would be perfect if not only for its quality then for its simplicity. Other units might come close but I've found that the TomTom One delivers time and time again.
What's in the box? I'm glad you asked:
- The TomTom One (of course)
- (1) Car Charger
- Documentation Pack (Quick Start Guide, Installation Poster, Accessories Catalog, and Warranty/License Agreement)
- (1) Windshield Mount
- (1) USB Cable
- (1) Adhesive Disk For Windshield Mount (for mounting the TomTom to your dash)

TomTom ONE 130-S 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

TomTom ONE 130-S 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had an old C320 Garmin GPS that I bought only 2 years ago and the touch screen was freezing up randomly for several months so I decided to get a new Garmin nuvi 200. I exchanged the Garmin nuvi 200 for the Tom Tom 130S mainly because the Garmin nuvi 200 did not have speech for street names. The Garmin nuvi 260 announces street names but was $250. The Tom Tom 130S was on sale for $199 so I decided to try it out although I was a little hesitant since I'm a big Garmin fan. I'm happy about my exchange. It's plusses surpass its minuses:
My favorite features:
-The mount is awesome, it's foldable and the Tom Tom snaps out easily.
It's also very lightweight and can be easily stored with the Tom Tom for
easy transportability
-You can easily connect to computer for instant upgrades and map changes.
-It's fun! You can download your favorite celebrity voices. I have Mr.
T and Yoda
-It's got separate emergency contacts such as roadside assistance,
hospitals, police
-Upload to satellite time is very quick
-The volume of the voice changes automatically with your driving speed
-You can preplan an itinerary with more than one stop (you can't do that with Garmin)
Some things that can be improved:
-battery lasts only 3 hours, my old Garmin can outlast that...but TomTom
130S has improved from its older ONE models
-Menu is more complicated than Garmin so if your not tech savvy you might not like this. However, it certainly has more features than the Garmin nuvi 200
